Giving Back

We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of the incredible community in Sri Lanka, which forms the beating heart of Gapstars. That’s why we are committed to giving back to the community which gave us so much.

Our relationship with Sri Lanka dates back more than 20 years, with the founding of Home of Hope in Sri Lanka — a non-profit organization which was established in 2001 by the wife of Gapstars founder Barend Raaff.

We want to stay true to our roots and want to help create a better future. As Nelson Mandela once said, “History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children.” We are proud supporters of two children’s charities, which offer safe housing and education to underserved children.

Our initiatives

Home of Hope

Created in 2001, Home of Hope is a volunteer NGO caring for orphaned and destitute children and other needy persons in the rural community around Digana, Kandy, Sri Lanka. Their approach is characterized by offering loving guidance and topnotch education so that children learn to stand on their own feet so they can walk into a brighter future.

Cholankande Youth Training Centre

We are also proud contributors to the Cholankande Youth Training Centre (CYTC), a technical school in the town of Cholankande that is shaping young bright minds to become the future techies of Sri Lanka. The school helps marginalized and underprivileged youth obtain technical training in electrical, automotive and computer engineering.
