2021 so far: the year of Covid-adaptation, rapid growth and reunion
As we have nearly reached the halfway point of 2021, we decided it was time to look back and reflect on the last 6 months. With Covid still dominating the global market and media it’s hard to ignore the elephant in the room. However, despite the challenges of the pandemic, we look back at an exciting 6 months full of developments that we would love to share with you.
First of all, we would like to welcome our new partners to the Gapstars community. The early months of 2021 have taught us that business leaders are once again eager to grow their digital platforms and presence. Building remote teams has become the global standard since Covid and Gapstars is more than happy to play its part.
We are therefore excited to announce that we have partnered with a number of fast-growing companies to further their growth. We look forward to working with each of these exciting companies and to establish great things together. Gapstars partners up with B&S, One2Ten, Rentman, Daisycon and Certscanner. Welcome on board!

In need of fast, temporary and flexible scaling? Gapstars presents: TurboUP
Having noticed an increase in demand for immediate access to tech talent on a temporary basis, we are soon releasing an add-on to the existing service model: TurboUP.
With TurboUP, you can temporarily scale up your existing dedicated team with a team from the Gapstars bench to temporarily increase speed in your delivery. This offers a fast and cost-effective way to increase your capacity, without having to make long-term commitments that might not fit your current organisation.
More scaling flexibility in the short-term will allow us to support our partners better as they build pioneering technology products. And, after all, that’s what we’re all about.
One of the major internal developments at Gapstars in 2021 is the installation of our Learning & Development team. Their main focus is to provide every employee with a growth journey that fits their wishes and needs, and at the same time help our clients reach their goals.
The Gapstars Academy aims to provide the stars of Gapstars with the opportunity to accelerate and further their personal and professional development. The goal is to empower each of our stars by gaining exposure to the thriving Dutch tech ecosystem combined with a rigid learning structure, lectured by Sri Lankan domain experts and technologists. We believe this setup will help our employees become established as forward thinking tech leaders.
The Gapstars Universe Now Counts Over 100 Stars
As you might have seen on our socials, we have recently crossed the triple digit mark. Gapstars is now over 100 stars strong. We are over the moon with this milestone as it is a testament of the trust our partners have in our community. We thank you for your that trust and we thank our people for making Gapstars the place it is. It might sound cliche, but our people truly are at the core of what we do and are our main driver for success.
Gapstars Tech Space
In April, we organized our very first digital CTO chat series called Tech Space. Hosted by Joshua Hoffman (former CTO, Blendle), we welcomed Phil Mander (VP Technology, Harver), Sander Poelwijk (Engineering Manager, Leaseweb) and Hugo Hemmen (CEO, Gapstars) to the virtual stage. These experienced leaders shared their personal experiences and opinions on the effect of Covid-19 on remote collaboration within tech teams.
We are already working on the next edition and you can expect an invite soon!
Explorer Series 2.0
Next to our CTO chat, we have also revamped our popular Gapstars Explorer Series and released a 2.0 version. We had our first edition of the renewed concept back in April where we shared insights on the future of PHP frameworks, how it ties in with security, and how it can be used to create and maintain scalable platforms.
Looking ahead: Scale-up Party 2021/2022
We are happy with how far we have come this year, but we are very confident that the next 6 months will be even better. For the rest of this year, our main focus will be on scaling our client services team in The Netherlands, as well as investing in our recruitment engine in Sri Lanka, to keep up with the growing demand. We’ll continue to develop our service delivery, add new expertise, grow our community and remain the employer of choice.
From all of us at Gapstars, we wish you a great second half of 2021 and we hope to look back at the end of it with a smile on our faces. We trust the end of the pandemic is in sight as the world slowly but surely opens up again. We cannot wait to reunite with all of you at the next Gapstars Scale-up Party.
