About the role
As an AI Engineer, you will be a key member of the tech and product team, responsible for designing, building, and evolving AI-powered product experiences. This is not a research role and not a pure backend role. You will focus on applied AI systems in production, with a strong emphasis on conversational quality, agent-based architectures, iteration speed, and user trust. We're transitioning from a multi-prompt architecture to multi-agent systems that can hold meaningful conversations at scale.
You will work closely with Product, Design, Backend Engineers, and Security to translate product intent into scalable and trustworthy AI systems. Besides writing high-quality code, you will play a critical role in shaping how AI is used across the platform and how it delivers real user
value in a sensitive mental health context.
Tech stack includes Azure OpenAI, Azure cloud services, .NET, SQL Server, and ReactJs frontend framework.
Responsibilities
Design and build conversational AI that is not limited to rigid scripts or predefined paths.
Implementing and evolving agent-based and multi-agent architectures, including tool usage, orchestration, memory, and context handling
Building AI systems grounded in OpenUp content using techniques such as RAG and agentic retrieval
Designing and maintaining evaluation pipelines to catch regressions before users do
Driving fast iteration cycles on AI features through prototyping, experimentation, and evaluation
Balancing user experience with privacy, safety, and compliance requirement
Collaborating with product and design to align AI behavior with the intended user experience
Productionizing AI solutions on Azure, including monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement
About you
You enjoy working closely with product and design partners and are comfortable operating in areas with ambiguity. You are enthusiastic about
mental health and motivated by building technology that has a real impact on people’s lives. You believe that learning comes from iteration and feedback, and that strong user value and trust go hand in hand.
