About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Accounting Expert to manage payroll accounting activities while supporting general accounting operations across AP/AR, while also contributing to day-to-day financial administration to support continuity within the team.

Payroll Accounting

  • Manage end-to-end payroll accounting processes.

  • Support the transition of payroll accounting activities from an external agency to an in-house function.

  • Ensure payroll-related financial entries are accurately recorded and reconciled.

  • Maintain compliance with applicable payroll regulations and tax requirements.

  • Assist in interpreting and applying Dutch payroll compliance requirements, including expat-related tax rulings where applicable.

  • Work with payroll software to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Support AP/AR activities including invoice processing, payment follow-ups, and reconciliations.

  • Maintain accurate general ledger postings related to payroll and operational expenses.

  • Assist with customer invoicing and supplier payment processing.

  • Contribute to month-end close activities where required.

  • Work collaboratively with the finance team to build redundancy across

Requirements

Hard Skills

  • Proven experience in payroll accounting and AP/AR processes.

  • Experience working with payroll software (experience with the ‘Numbers’ platform is an advantage).

  • Exposure to general accounting functions and reconciliations.

  • Knowledge of Dutch payroll compliance and tax regulations (e.g. expat rulings) is highly desirable, or demonstrated ability to learn complex legislative frameworks.

  • Experience in invoice processing, vendor management, and payment runs.

  • Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations and payroll-related balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Familiarity with employee expense processing and reimbursement workflows.

  • Ability to maintain accurate payroll journals and related GL postings.

  • Experience supporting month-end close activities (accruals, prepayments, payroll provisions).

  • Working knowledge of intercompany transactions related to payroll or operational expenses.

  • Exposure to statutory deductions, tax filings, and compliance-related payroll reporting.

Soft Skills

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.

  • Proactive and reliable in managing tasks and deadlines within a lean team.

Requirements

ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).

University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Strong technical accounting knowledge with IFRS, with experience of statutory accounts preparation and audit coordination.
