About Gapstars

At Gapstars, we partner with some of Europe’s most ambitious tech companies, from disruptive startups to fast-scaling scaleups, helping them build high-performing remote engineering teams. Headquartered in the Netherlands, with talent hubs in Sri Lanka and Portugal, we are home to 275+ engineers who thrive on solving real-world challenges with modern technologies. Our teams work across domains, from networking and marketplaces to SaaS and AI, delivering scalable solutions that drive meaningful outcomes. If you’re looking for a company that combines technical excellence, a strong culture, and room to grow, welcome to Gapstars.

Role Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Microsoft AI Lead to architect our enterprise agents and democratize AI across the company. You are the bridge between deep engineering and business enablement. A pivotal part of this role is acting as a coach and evangelist—teaching non-technical business teams how to safely build their own custom Copilots and automations.

We hire T-shaped engineers: While you own the Microsoft AI ecosystem (Copilot, Azure, Power Platform), you won't work in a silo. You will collaborate deeply with our AWS/n8n Lead, occasionally getting your hands dirty in AWS, just as they will jump into Azure to support you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Enablement (Citizen AI): Train, empower, and support business units to build their own Copilots and workflows. You will run workshops, create documentation, and act as the internal champion for AI adoption.

  • Agent Architecture & Governance: Design the enterprise guardrails (Entra ID, Purview, Citizen Toolkit) so business users can build safely. Deploy complex, multi-agent systems when business needs exceed low-code capabilities.

  • Pro-Code AI & RAG: Build custom models, backend logic, and RAG pipelines using Azure AI Foundry and Azure AI Search to support both engineering and business-led Copilots.

  • Cross-Cloud Collaboration: Work hands-on alongside the AWS Lead. Share expertise on Microsoft integrations (Graph API, Entra ID) and jump into n8n or Amazon Bedrock to support the wider team's goals.

The Role

Microsoft AI Automation Lead

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in the Microsoft ecosystem

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Azure AI Foundry

    • Azure AI Search

    • Microsoft Copilot Studio

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to work with non-technical business users and explain technical concepts clearly

  • A pragmatic mindset with the ability to make sound technical decisions aligned with business needs

  • Curiosity, ownership, and the ability to learn and scale new solutions quickly

Strong Plus

  • Experience with Power Platform, especially Power Automate

  • Exposure to AI architecture decisions, such as RAG patterns

  • Familiarity with Semantic Kernel or similar orchestration frameworks

  • Experience supporting business-led automation or low-code AI initiatives

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to technologies outside the Microsoft ecosystem

  • Openness to working with adjacent tools or collaborating across broader platform environments

  • General understanding of how AI solutions may interact with other cloud or application ecosystems

What Makes This Role Interesting

  • You will play a key role in shaping clients’ internal AI capability at an important stage of growth.

  • You will work on practical AI use cases that directly support internal business teams.

  • You will have the opportunity to influence not only technical implementation, but also how AI is adopted across the wider organization.

  • You will help define the standards, guardrails, and best practices that support long-term AI maturity.

Seniority

This role is considered senior, primarily due to the need for:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement

  • Clear communication with business users

  • Sound decision-making on internal AI direction

  • The ability to guide adoption across multiple teams

A candidate does not need to have every possible AI specialization in place from day one, but they must demonstrate a strong Microsoft foundation and the ability to grow into the broader scope of the role.
