About the Role
Our client is looking for a hands-on Senior DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen their AWS infrastructure, security, and software delivery processes. You’ll work closely with our client’s engineering team to establish a secure AWS landing zone, improve deployment reliability, and build repeatable processes that the team can confidently maintain.
Key Responsibilities
AWS Foundations: Assess and improve our client’s AWS landing zone, account and environment separation, networking, access controls, and security guardrails.
Infrastructure as Code: Ensure infrastructure changes are version-controlled, reviewable, and reproducible, with clear configuration and drift management.
CI/CD: Improve GitHub Actions pipelines to enhance build reliability, deployment speed, and automated quality and security checks.
Release Management: Establish a reliable path from code review to deployment, including version traceability, coordinated frontend/backend releases, safe database migrations, and tested rollback procedures.
Cloud Security: Strengthen least-privilege access, workload identities, secrets management, encryption, audit logging, and vulnerability remediation.
Reliability and Recovery: Implement actionable monitoring and alerts, and validate backup and recovery procedures.
Cost Optimisation: Identify unnecessary cloud expenditure and right-size resources without compromising performance or reliability.
Continuous Improvement: Work closely with our client’s engineering team to assess the existing AWS infrastructure and delivery setup, prioritise improvements, and establish secure, repeatable processes the team can confidently maintain.
What We’re Looking For
Strong hands-on experience building, managing, and maintaining production AWS environments.
Experience with AWS landing zones, multi-account governance, IAM, networking, and security controls.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
Practical experience with Docker, container deployments, and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
Confidence supporting databases, message queues, and background processing.
Strong troubleshooting skills across application and infrastructure layers, particularly during deployments and production incidents.
Sound judgment in balancing security, delivery speed, cloud costs, reliability, and operational complexity.
Clear communication and a collaborative, hands-on approach, with the ability to implement improvements rather than simply provide recommendations.
