Your Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and robust APIs and services using Python, Django, and the Django REST Framework (DRF).
• Work with our core infrastructure, including Postgres, AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker. Write high-quality, well-tested code, contributing to our healthy test coverage and culture of test-driven development (TDD).
• Actively use and champion AI-assisted coding tools to enhance productivity and code quality.
• Collaborate closely with product and other engineering teams to translate vision into technical solutions.
• Take initiative on improving our platform, with roughly 50% of your time dedicated to maintenance and non-user-facing improvements.
• Participate in architectural discussions, constructively challenging ideas and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring (Requirements)

• 7+ years' of experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in Python with a deep understanding of its ecosystem.
• Significant hands-on experience with Django and Django REST Framework (DRF). This is a strong preference due to the size and complexity of our existing codebase.
• Solid experience with relational databases, specifically Postgres.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes).
• A "startup mindset": you are a self-starter with a bias for action, comfortable wearing multiple hats, and willing to step in to help colleagues.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
• A keen interest and competency in using AI-assisted development tools is a must.
