About the Role

We are looking for a freelance Senior Swift Engineer to provide technical consultancy support to one of our clients. The role will focus on complex iOS development and mobile application integration with connected hardware.

The consultant will provide support as required, with sessions or technical deliverables arranged with prior notice.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for native iOS applications.
  • Design, review, and troubleshoot Swift-based solutions.
  • Support mobile application integration with hardware and IoT devices.
  • Work with Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy communication.
  • Support UDS message exchange and device diagnostic processes.
  • Provide guidance on over-the-air firmware and software updates.
  • Diagnose issues across mobile, connectivity, firmware, and hardware layers.
  • Review technical architecture and recommend practical solutions.
  • Collaborate with mobile, backend, hardware, and product teams.
  • Document technical recommendations and solutions when required.

The Role

Senior Swift Engineer – Technical Consultant (Freelance)

Requirements

  • 8+ years of mobile application development experience.

  • Strong expertise in Swift and native iOS development.

  • Experience with Core Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy.

  • Experience integrating mobile applications with connected hardware or IoT devices.

  • Knowledge of UDS or similar diagnostic communication protocols.

  • Experience with OTA or firmware update processes.

  • Strong understanding of iOS architecture, concurrency, networking, and performance.

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a consulting capacity.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Kotlin or native Android development.

  • Experience within automotive, mobility, cycling, IoT, or embedded systems.

  • Knowledge of CAN communication and secure device communication.

  • Previous technical leadership, mentoring, or consultancy experience.
