About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Freelance ATL/TL (Associate Tech Lead / Tech Lead) with strong React, TypeScript, and Node.js expertise to support an upcoming project focused on improving the accessibility of a hiring automation product.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who is front-end heavy, but also comfortable working across the stack when needed. The engagement will involve close collaboration with another freelancer and internal stakeholders to deliver accessibility improvements in line with WCAG 2.1 standards.
Project Scope
The project focuses on enhancing the accessibility and usability of an existing product. Key areas of work include:
Improving keyboard navigation across application screens
Adjusting color contrast and visual accessibility elements
Supporting video captions and other accessibility enhancements
Implementing front-end improvements aligned with WCAG 2.1
Ensuring smooth integration with existing back-end services and APIs
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to the delivery of accessibility-related improvements across the product
Work hands-on with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, and Node.js
Collaborate closely with another freelancer and project stakeholders
Integrate and consume JSON/REST APIs
Help break down work, align priorities, and ensure progress is tracked effectively
Provide light project coordination or technical leadership where needed
Support best practices in front-end development, usability, and code quality
We are looking for someone who brings a strong mix of technical depth and collaboration skills.
Must-have skills
Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript
Solid experience with Node.js
Strong knowledge of JavaScript and CSS
Experience working with JSON/REST APIs
Ability to work independently in a freelance setup
Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
Nice to have
Experience with web accessibility standards, especially WCAG 2.1
Previous experience improving accessibility in web applications
Exposure to cloud environments
Experience taking on light coordination or team leadership responsibilities
